The Best Wrestling Grappling Holds And Takedown Techniques
By admin | January 5, 2012
Wrestling is one of the few sports that has been around since the beginning in record history. New York City was home to the first national organized wrestling tournament in 1888 and became part of the Olympic games in 1904. Some types of wrestling would be the typical collegiate wrestling, Entertainment wrestling and even UFC wrestling. Wrestling has become such a wide sport with different variations stemming throughout the world. There are also some good wrestling moves that work really well in a match. The Double Leg Takedown is great because the wrestler has control of both legs, doesn’t require the opponent to lean in and can be done at various stages. Other effective moves include the Standing single, the bear hug and the grapevine. One of the most insane wrestling moves would have to be the flipping Greco-Roman wrestling move called the “Flying Squirrel” performed by American junior wrestler Ellis Coleman at the junior world championships. The flying squirrel involves leaping over an opponent and performing a two-pronged takedown all the while keeping an element of surprise. As for Coleman he went on to win the bronze medal. Like every other athlete a wrestler should train and practice hard to become better at takedowns and holds.
