Ironically, Dave Schultz was nicknamed “Pudge” when he was younger because he was chubby and some of his teachers thought he had a mental disability. As it turns out, all he had was dyslexia. Against these odds, it did not take long for him to show his ability to win at wrestling and knowledge of the sport. Through junior high, high school and college, Dave Schultz won many titles, championships and tournaments. Wresting takes a lot of muscle strength and stamina. In order to win a freestyle wresting match, one of the wrestlers must trap or pin the other on the mat. A popular and controversial freestyle wrestler is Gorgeous George, who wrestled in the 1940′s and was a popular television personality. He was popular because he wrestled professionally, but he was controversial because he was a very odd character and was considered a kind of ‘villian’ among other wrestlers because he talked dirty and it was questionable whether or not he would sometimes cheat.
